It’s official: holidays in the UK are less stressful than exotic trips abroad.
A study* has revealed that families who stay in the UK are more likely to arrive relaxed and ready to enjoy their holiday, finding it easier to unwind without the worries of passports and visas, the language barrier and bugs and insects.
A shorter journey that skips the hassles of endless queues at airport check-in and security is one reason Brits stay close to home.

What stresses us out on holiday?
The study of 2,000 Brits who have been on breaks in the UK and holidays abroad found that 57% reckon not having to deal with passport control or navigate their way through airports make things less stressful on a UK stay.
34% said they find it easier to unwind when they’re not worrying about a language barrier, while 33% preferred to pack and prepare for a UK break, rather than stress about weight restrictions on their luggage.
The research also found that the average travel time for a holiday abroad is more than seven hours, compared to a UK holiday at around three hours – one in 10 of us even say we travel for less than one hour to get to a UK destination.
