With two Killer Whales (or to give them their slightly less frightening official name, Orcas) spotted just 100m off the North Coast of Cornwall near Newquay this week, you might be forgiven for thinking that British waters are no longer safe from the kind of stinging and biting nasties that plague foreign climes.
But fear not, there is no recorded attack on a human by a wild Orca, so pack your swimmies and surf gear and you might just get the opportunity to spot the ocean’s top predator next time you’re staying down at Perran Sands or Hendra. We’d still advise admiring them from a distance, though – they do look rather big and toothy.
If you like the idea of life on the ocean wave but prefer something more solid than a surfboard separating you from it, we can thoroughly recommend our Christmas Cruise Breaks Offer to enjoy the festive markets in Cologne, Hamelin and Bruges, with 4-night getaways from just £191 per person.
