Tencreek Park’s guide to Looe

For a fabulous June holiday Cornwall is difficult to beat, so we asked Looe and Polperro expert Mark Joce of Tencreek Holiday Park to recommend his holiday highlights.

Tencreek Holiday Park: beautiful views

What makes Tencreek such a great choice in June and July?
These months are really lovely for a visit. It’s generally quieter on the park and in the surrounding area, the weather is good, roads are empty and the holidays are excellent value for money.

What are the park highlights?
There isn’t a holiday park that is closer to the wonderful town of Looe – we’re a 25 minutes walk away. There’s also a public footpath from Tencreek to the South West Coastal path, and there are many stunning views to take in along the way. If you prefer a relaxing day on park, our indoor pool will suit you down to the ground.

Which is your favourite beach?
The nearest is Talland Bay, but my favourite is Looe Beach, which is flat and sandy and the sea stays shallow for a long distance.

Where are your favourite places to eat?
Both Looe and Polperro are blessed with lots of wonderful cafes and restaurants serving amazing seafood, cream teas and ice cream, but our tip is to keep an eye out for speciality cheeses. Cornwall is home to some of the country’s very best cheese producers and there are some delicious varieties to discover and fall in love with.

What are the local area’s most impressive attractions?
It’s an obvious answer but the coast and countryside are incredible, and the pretty harbour towns of Looe and Polperro are both captivating.

Are there any events or festivals to look out for in June / early July?
There are several!

Looe Festival by the Sea (7-8 June) sees restaurants and cafe owners man stalls offering great food along the quayside. There’s a mini music festival on the Saturday, and the Great Cornish Raft Race on Sunday, where homemade rafts race around the pier – most don’t even make it half way.

Polperro Festival (14-22 June) features great music, art and entertainment, while the Looe Food Festival (28-29 June) showcases a diverse range of local foods.

For something a bit different there is Boconnoc Steam Fair (18-20 July), which is a rally of full size and miniature steam, classic cars, vintage vehicles and tractors.
