Fed up with the darkening days and itching to plan your next holiday? Need some ideas for where to go? Let us help. Here are five holiday parks that we think will be big in 2013.
1/ Camber Sands Holiday Park, Sussex
This is a brilliant beach destination with seven miles of Blue Flag rated sands on the park’s doorstep. Camber Sands’ sweeping dunes and stretches of sand are the perfect playground for families, and the park is so close that it’s just a short amble back to the comfort of your accommodation (and a hot shower; well sand gets everywhere!).
The water fun doesn’t end when you’re back on park. There are four indoor pools and a brilliant flume to fire down – great fun for all of the family!
2/ Riviera Bay, Devon
Spectacular sea views and stunning scenery nearby mark Riviera Bay out from many other locations and will leave you wanting to stay forever.
This cliff-top park in Devon overlooks its own bay beach. The tiny town of Brixham with its pretty harbour, the beautiful Berry Head nature reserve and the waterfalls of Becky Falls, voted Devon’s top beauty spot, should make your must see list.
3/ Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear
Location, location, location is what makes Whitley Bay so fantastic, and the park manages to roll three styles of holiday into one. Remain rooted on park and you’ll enjoy the pools, play areas and glittering evening entertainment; head out into the countryside for St Mary’s Lighthouse which overlooks the park and explore along the coast for beautiful beaches and coves; or turn your holiday into a city break by heading into nearby Newcastle or Gateshead for fabulous shops, museums and the North East’s renowned night life.
4/ Carmarthen Bay, Carmarthenshire
Carmarthen Bay is a real kids’ favourite, a park packed to the rafters with fun activities and entertaining children’s clubs. This Park Resorts property on the coast of South Wales has a massive choice of play programmes, with pool-based activities including snorkelling, kayaks and hydrodomes (huge inflatable balls that your kids paddle across the pool ‘hamster-in-wheel’ style), and sports that tap into the very latest crazes such as cheerleading, bodyball and popdance.
If you need a break from the frenetic fun there’s a farm adventure park, a theme park and beaches that are brilliant for rock-pooling nearby.
5/ New Beach, Kent
The sightseeing options from New Beach are endless: Dover Castle, Leeds Castle, Hastings, even France is in easy reach for a day trip. A bit closer to home is the beauty spot of St Margaret’s Cliffs and the town of Dymchurch, where there is lots to keep kids happy.
Of course, this is the south coast so there are plenty of quiet beaches to discover, or you can stick to the park for the heated pool, adventure playground or the nearby animal park.
