Autumn Food Festivals in Cornwall
Newquay Fish Festival – 6-8 September
Thousands are attracted to Newquay Harbour to sample the delicious fish dishes on display, watch local chefs rustle up amazing food and enjoy the entertainment, which includes sand castle competitions, Punch & Judy and rock pool shows.
Cornish Pasty Festival, Redruth – 6-9 September
Dedicated to Cornwall’s most famous food, the Cornish pasty, this festival celebrates the region’s mining industry – so closely linked to the origins of the pasty – and uncovers the magic of Redruth.
Cornwall Food & Drink Festival, Truro – 27-29 September
The South West’s renowned food and restaurant festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a line-up packed with new restaurants, fresh features and delicious local produce.
Don’t miss the pop-up kitchens where Cornwall’s best chefs will be offering a taste of mouth-watering signature dishes in true street food style, plus there are free masterclasses and tasting sessions.
Falmouth Oyster Festival – 10-13 October
This amazing celebration of seafood marks the start of the oyster dredging season and includes cookery demonstrations from leading local chefs, lots of oysters, seafood, wine and local ale, sing-a-long sea shanties and marquees brimming with Cornish produce.
Autumn Food Festivals in Devon
Plymouth Seafood Festival – 20-22 September
The Plymouth Seafood Festival is a showcase of the fantastic seafood in Plymouth. Local chefs will demonstrate a range of mouth-watering dishes using fish caught fresh off the boats. Highlights include the Quayside Market where local fisherman take centre stage, a Cookery Theatre, a Seafood Trail along the waterfront, a Crabbing Contest and a thrilling Fish Filleting Championship.
North Devon FoodFest, Barnstaple – 20 October
Foodfest showcases the finest local produce from across North Devon and Exmoor. Food stands sell everything from cheese, artisan bread, ciders and ales to local meats, fresh produce, fish and much more, with chef demos, free tastings and live music throughout the day.
Autumn Food Festivals in Somerset
Burnham-on-Sea Food and Drink Festival – 28 September
This home-grown foodie festival celebrates everything that is fresh and good in the South West. There are stalls, cooking displays and tastings, plus competitions to find amateurs and professionals who bake the best cake, bread and pies.
Dartmouth Food Festival – 25-27 October
This best of the South West food festival showcases delicious local specialities from producers including the Severn & Wye Smokery, Heron Valley fruit juices, Well Hung meat and Bigbury Bay Oysters.
There are demonstrations, masterclasses, wine tastings, a beer festival and even opera in the Flavel Hall.
Autumn Food Festivals in Wales
Neath Food Festival – 9 October
In only its second year, Neath Food Festival is featuring traders from the Victorian Indoor Market and independent producers from across the region. Expect to find delicious fruit, vegetables, Welsh cakes, laver bread and cockles, sausages, bacon, cheeses and cooked meats, faggots and peas.
Conwy Feast – 26-27 October
The Conwy Feast has 150 food stalls, an outdoor market, a busy beer tent and cocktail and champagne bar. You can try, and then buy, from local food producers, pick up tips and tricks from top chefs, find out how to become more green-fingered in the food garden and munch your way around Conwy, which has been turned into an edible town by local residents who have been growing food in public places for everyone to enjoy.
Suffolk
Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival – 27 Sept to 13 Oct
Over 80 producers attend the two day festival from 28-29 September, which has a huge array of stalls, tasting sessions and live demonstrations from celebrity chefs and local stars. The festival is followed by two weeks of fringe events with the aim of helping people to understand the connection between food, people and the local landscape and celebrate the amazing abundance of food and drink from the coast of East Suffolk.
Northumberland
Alnwick Food & Drink Festival – 21-22 September
This festival celebrates the wealth of local food and drink producers in Northumberland and the North East, with special guests including Jean-Christophe Novelli. There are over 50 stalls selling food, drink and cookery essentials in the Market Square, a full programme of Chef’s demonstrations and roving chefs popping up around the Festival.
