Unmissable Dog Friendly Beaches in Cornwall

Discover all the best dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall while you stay in one of Breakfree Holidays’ incredible holiday properties.

With over 200 beaches where dogs are allowed (some with a seasonal dog ban) and only 4 beaches on which a full dog ban is in operation, Cornwall is one of the most dog-friendly holiday destinations in the UK.

From the sand and shingle beach at Kingsand Beach to the rock pools of Hannafore or Castle Beaches, there really is something for everyone to enjoy. Here are a few of our favourite dog-friendly beaches for you and your four-legged friend.

The Top 4 Dog-Friendly Beaches in Cornwall:

  1. Trebarwith Strand – Located on the North Cornish Coast Trebarwith Strand is often considered one of the best beaches in Cornwall. A beautiful sandy beach with rock pools, incredible surf and golden sand, it really is the perfect beach for the whole family. There are wonderful walks around the coast path, as well as great places to eat and drink, most of which also welcome dogs!
  2. Gorran Haven Beach – This beautiful beach is just a few miles from St Austell and offers another sandy beach for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy. There is a small harbour cove at one end of the beach and a lovely village to the rear. It is a wonderful family-friendly beach with everything you might need and direct links up onto the coast path for some fantastic dog walking trails. It’s not hard to see why Gorran Haven is one of our favourite dog-friendly beaches in the area.
  3. Daymer Bay Beach – This superb dog-friendly beach in North Cornwall has a long stretch of sand but is also backed by wonderful sand dunes that your dog will love to explore. One of our favourite beaches in Cornwall which also welcomes dogs, it’s comparatively off the beaten track compared to its neighbours, Rock and Polzeath beaches, providing a bit more of a secluded feel. It’s a real hidden gem! From one end of the beach, you will see stunning views sprawling out all around you, and the car park also has a lovely grassy picnic area where you can enjoy your lunch while taking in the incredible scenery. This is a definite must-visit if you are staying in North Cornwall.
  4. Holywell Bay Beach – A few miles out of Newquay in North Cornwall you will come to this stunning dog-friendly beach. This long stretch of sandy beach that is backed by high sand dunes offers your dog plenty of space to stretch their legs as well as lots to sniff and explore. Surrounded by steep cliffs with golden sands, caves and streams to adventure around, your canine companion will love this dog-friendly beach as much as you.
